Fuel prices: Bruno Le Maire rules out a discount at the pump, “not consistent with our budgetary objectives”

While Xavier Bertrand, president of LR in the Hauts de France region, asked the government for a discount “for everyone” of 15 to 20 cents on the price of a liter of gasoline, Bruno Le Maire estimated this Saturday, on the set of BFM Politique , that the proposal “was not coherent”.

“The state is blamed for raising taxes, you shouldn’t raise them yourself.” Invited this Saturday at BFM Politique, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, considered that Xavier Bertrand’s proposal to lower the price of fuel “is not responsible.”

Bruno Le Maire also criticized the regional policy of his former Republican comrade. “Xavier Bertrand can start by reducing the level of the regional TICPE tax (tax on the internal consumption of energy products, editor’s note). The tax is voted at the national level and then the regions have the option of increasing it (…) Xavier Bertrand opted for reach the maximum of the increase,” he denounced.
