SNCF proposes a general increase of 1.8% for all railway workers in 2024

According to SNCF, the proposed salary increase for the year 2024 represents a sum of 300 million euros for the group.

The SNCF takes out the checkbook again. Following discussions with unions during mandatory annual negotiations (NAO), the operator formulated its salary increase proposals for its 150,000 employees.

Specifically, the company proposes a general increase in fixed salaries of 1.8%, starting January 1, 2024 (through revaluation of the salary point index for statutory employees and by revaluation of the base salary for contractual employees) .

+1.8% for everyone

In addition, as of January 1, 2024, bonuses for the use of reserves (+25 euros per month) and night bonuses (+4%), Sundays and holidays (+4%) will be increased for all employees who receive these. benefits.

The company will also pay a shared value bonus of 400 euros (for full-time) in December this year. “This measure rewards the commitment of employees and their contribution to the success and good economic results of the company,” underlines the SNCF.

The proposed increase represents an effort of 300 million euros for the group, according to SNCF management. “It is a very important effort,” emphasizes Philippe Bru.

For the group, it is about “creating a climate of trust to address issues peacefully in the coming months”, such as the negotiations around the Olympic Games, said Philippe Bru. “With what we have contributed we can clearly say that the commitment to protect railway workers is maintained,” he insisted.

Two round tables on the topic will take place at the end of November to address the practical organization of the event and “social support.” to encourage railway workers to postpone their holidays.

Waiting for the unions

The unions – in order of representativeness: CGT-Cheminots, Unsa-Ferroviaire, SUD-Rail and CFDT-Cheminots – have until November 22 to ratify the agreement. Last year, only the CFDT signed the management proposal that put an average salary increase of 5.9% on the table. However, management had implemented the agreement.

The SNCF group also wants to improve its attractiveness, seeking to recruit staff who respond to the general enthusiasm for the train. In 2023, 8,000 railway workers were hired and the workforce increased for the first time after several years of decline or stagnation. “This will continue next year,” declared Philippe Bru.
