Demolished on Saturday night after the passage of storm Géraldine, the control tower at Brest airport suffered “significant damage”. This was indicated by the airport this Tuesday, January 2, in a statement published on its website.
Although it had announced on Sunday the resumption of traffic on Tuesday morning, the airport is forced to slightly revise its forecasts.
“There will be no service technicians this weekend”
“The equipment affected by the storm is the responsibility of the Western Air Navigation Service (SNA), Claude Arphexad, airport operations director, told Le Télégramme newspaper on Sunday.
But it appears the damage is harder to repair than expected.
“Major damage to the control tower”
“The damage is significant to the control tower,” the airport reported this Tuesday morning to justify the postponement of the resumption of traffic, specifying that “the technicians are doing the best they can.”
The airport invites “passengers to contact their airlines to find out the status of their flights”, specifying that “all information on arrival and departure flights is updated in real time” on its website: www. brest.aeroport.bzh.
“Brest Bretagne Airport and air navigation services are seeking all solutions to allow traffic to resume in complete safety and regret the inconvenience caused,” the airport concludes on its website.
