We know that space tourism has taken off thanks to the rapid growth of private companies such as SpaceX, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic.
Most offer for several hundred thousand dollars (at least) short suborbital flights in which the effects of weightlessness are felt, others go further with flights above the Karman line, which marks at 100 km altitude the limit of space according to an international convention.
According to Global Market Insights, this market was worth $827 million last year and could reach $13 billion by 2032.
Enough to whet the appetite of “hospitality” giants like the French Accor. If the hotel group has no intention of launching a rocket or opening hotels on the Moon, it has signed an agreement with Orbite Space.
This American start-up that has just raised 4 million dollars proposes weightless flights (at high altitude), but also plans “stays” to prepare a space tourism trip at its Florida campus, currently under construction.
It is within this framework that the partnership with Accor will be implemented. They will be themed stays that will take place in Paris.
On the program: introduction to space tourism and daily life in space, experiments with centrifugal force, space suits, exchanges with experts from the CNES (National Center for Space Studies), cooking classes in space, visit to the Interstellar BioFarm and accommodation in a five-star hotel of the group in the capital.
A three-day experience limited to ten people will cost no less than 19,500 euros for this “holistic mix of education, training, health and well-being in the service of a unique space hospitality experience that redefines luxury on Earth and in space.” according to the organizers.
A straw when you are willing to “spend millions to fly with Virgin, Axiom, Blue Origin, Space X or others”, as Orbit explains.
