“Absolutely not a suppression”: the Minister of Labor defends the monetization of the fifth week of paid license

The Minister of Labor, Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, asked the social partners to assume the proposal to monetize the fifth week of license paid to negotiate the adoption or not of this measure.

It is just a “proposal”, but it is discussed. The Minister of Labor, Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, said Friday that the idea of monetizing the fifth week of paid vacation was a “proposal” that social partners could “negotiate” or “discard” if they wish.

“It is a text that is the appreciation of social partners since negotiations should begin as of August 1,” he insisted on the minister, while the proposal, which has initially passed, arouses many reactions.

A “new right” for employees

Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet said he had received “employer organizations” on Thursday, and that he was waiting for “the CFDT on Monday and other trade union organizations.” The minister had indicated on Thursday that it was a “new right, without questioning the current rights and protections”, but that “it would remain in the hand of each employee.”

Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet presented the possibility of monetizing the fifth week of the vacation paid at the press conference in which Prime Minister François Bayrou released his savings plan and his desire to offer social partners to open negotiations on unemployment insurance and labor law. She aroused strong leftist reactions and among the union organizations, the general secretary of the CFDT Marylise Léon speaking on Thursday of “Museum of Horrors”.
