The Minister of Public Accounts, Amélie de Montchalin, wants to lead to a budget project “in September” that “brings together the common base” and urges to find “a commitment in a historical moment”.
“With (the Minister of the Economy) Eric Lombard, in September, we want to lead to a solid budget project that brings together the common foundation. Then we will open ourselves to other political forces,” he said in an interview with the Tribune on Sunday.
“We want to bring to a clear commitment within three months” and “our goal is to find an agreement on the essential,” he adds. “The wait is expensive: in credibility, savings, ability to invest. Everyone who will seek the presidency in 2027 but will have contributed to the blockade will not be credible,” he said.
When asked about the reactions after the budget ads of Prime Minister François Bayrou on Tuesday, many negatives, Amélie de Montchalin replied that it is “normal to be subject to reactions.” But “those that in October may not be those of July.”
“Find people who have the courage to assume with us”
“We are at a particular moment when we have to find people who have the courage to assume with us,” he said.
The minister “thinks that there are men and women in all banks who see that their responsibility is to restore confidence for the French and a serenity in the country by 2027”.
Then, seeing to reach the opposition, he adds that “in February, we adopt a better budget thanks to the contributions of the oppositions, in particular the Socialist Party”, such as “credits for the foreigner or the Barnier Fund.”
François Bayrou, traveling to Pau, said on Saturday that “two months” was given so that the budget plan presented this week “finds its completion.”
