The leader of the SEAL team discusses the “Cargo” of the new member Bravo Carry

Spoilers ahead for season 6, episode 3 of team of seals, “Growing pains.”

Clay fell on behalf of team of seals following Bravo 6’s emotional and traumatic experience, with the team subsequently expressing concern about the breakup. However, they are still together and in the latest episode of the Paramount + series they have a new member in Raffi Barsoumian’s Omar. And according to the showrunner of the series, the new guy will have a “load” to carry.

Raffi Barsoumian officially joins team of seals as a series regular and his character, Omar, is a senior leader of Team Foxtrot. His arrival marks a big change for the rest of the group, who are still struggling with Clay’s recovery and imminent move to the Green Team, where he hopes to become an instructor. Showrunner Spencer Hudnut told TV Insider that Omar will face a tough road, as he has big shoes to fill:

He’s overwhelmed, sadly, even if he doesn’t literally replace Clay, [being] the new guy on the team. Obviously he has great shoes to fill, not to mention how Clay left the team it was so traumatic for everyone that, not that the guys think Omar is there, he has a lot to prove to this close-knit group.

Bravo Team is definitely like a family in that when one member suffers, everyone suffers. After the Mali ambush in the Season 5 finale, the team was left in shock and that sense of anxiety only increased after learning there was a possibility of disbandment. A new teammate will only add to the feeling of change, but based on this week’s episode, it looks like Jason and Omar are starting to get along after a rough start.

The team is currently stationed in Syria, where a long-term special operations mission is underway, meaning they will all have to work closely together for some time. He is unsurprising that there will be ups and downs as Omar tries to fit into their ranks. Spencer Hudnut went on to say during his interview:

He has some of Clay’s qualities, but he’s his man, his own person. He is unsurprising that there will be some growing pains with him integrating him into the team. The hope is that he can earn the trust of his teammate Bravo as the season progresses.

With only three episodes left in season six, I can’t wait to see how Jason, Ray, Sonny and the others fit in with Omar. Of course, viewers ideally want to see the band work in harmony, but the “growing pains” mentioned by the EP should create solid drama. No one can replace Clay, but I’m willing to give Omar a chance.

Also, let’s not forget that fans will still be able to see Clay Spenser over time. The series has already managed to balance Bravo-centric storylines with those focused exclusively on Clay. The actor who plays Spenser, Max Thieriot, has a double duty team of seals and the new series land of fire, which is part of the 2022 TV lineup. With that in mind, I’m thankful that the show still shows Clay and his recovery. Like other fans of the show, I will be watching closely how things develop with Clay, and of course I will do the same when it comes to Omar and how he takes on the burden of trying to fit into such a close-knit group. band.

new episodes of team of seals drops on Sundays and can be streamed with a subscription to Paramount +.
