American business magazine Forbes released his time-honored list of the world’s highest-paid artists for the past year this week.
At the top of this list, a surprise: the Genesis group, with the sum of 230 million dollars. A fortune obtained thanks to the sale of his catalog to Concord Music Group last September.
Sting in second place
The second place is occupied by Sting, with 210 million dollars. A neat sum obtained thanks to the sale, also, of the Police music catalog and his personal discography at Universal.
The third place on the podium is occupied by the American actor and director Tyler Perry, with 175 million pocketed during the past year. He is the only billionaire on the list.
A star in his country, but unknown in the rest of the world, Tyler Perry is at the helm of an audiovisual empire that produces series and films for black audiences. Some are available in France on Netflix.
South Park and the Simpsons in the ranking
Also in fourth place are troublemakers Trey Parker and Matt Stone. the creators of South Park AND The book of Mormon 160 million dollars have been pocketed as part of an agreement signed with Paramount, whose value is estimated at 900 million dollars.
The rest of the ranking is formed by the duo of the Simpsons James L. Brooks and Matt Groening ($105 million), actor Brad Pitt ($100 million) who sold part of his production company Plan B to Mediawan, the Rolling Stones ($98 million) and director James Cameron ($95 million), director of the three most successful films.
The singer Taylor Swift (92 million), the only woman on the list, occupies ninth place in this ranking, which includes reggaeton artist Bad Bunny (88 million) in last place.
