A dissonant voice. Although Les Républicains do not have a unit dedicated to sexist and sexual violence, Bruno Retailleau is in favor of the creation of this type of organization.
“Tomorrow, I think you’ll have to [y ait] an organization that allows you to listen, to receive”, explained this Thursday the head of the senators of LR in France Inter. According to him, “justice must instruct and punish, but there is an exemplary role of political parties” “We will have to take charge of this issue and be ruthless,” insisted Bruno Retailleau.
A position that contradicts those of his two competitors for the presidency of the party, Eric Ciotti and Aurélien Pradié. “I think it’s up to justice to do its job,” he swept the first on France 5 on Tuesday.
“We are in a political world where slander, denunciation, competition […] vigilance must be called,” justified the deputy for the Alpes-Maritimes.

Aurélien Pradié is of the same opinion. According to him, “it is justice that should do the housework.” Asked by Sud Radio, he criticizes an “extreme left that had organized a lot of contraptions, listening cells, etc…”. “I always said it wouldn’t work,” he continues.
Instead of internal bodies specializing in sexual and gender-based violence, the elected official wants the creation of a “jurisdiction dedicated to the protection of women and children who are victims of violence within families.” This type of organization exists, for example, in Spain.
Within LR, Aurélien Pradié is responsible for collecting complaints of sexual and gender-based violence. He thus he had intervened with Damian Abad – former leader of the LR deputies in the Assembly, then passed under the fold of the Renaissance after a short-lived appointment in the government – to denounce inappropriate behavior with collaborators.
Lot’s deputy distinguished himself on the issue by approving in 2019 a law that allows, in particular, to generalize the Anti-Approach Bracelet (BAR) for perpetrators of violence.
