The players of the Brazilian football club Ypiranga were padlocked in the dressing room during the home game against Grêmio on Sunday, in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Campeonato Gaúcho.
The humble Brazilian side, who at the time lost 0-1 to a goal from renowned Uruguayan international Luis Suárez, even surprised by turning the score around to win 2-1 thanks to a brace from Erick, but what was there more to talk about is what happened during the (extended) rest period.
In a video shared on social networks, goalkeeper Edson appeared to break a padlock using a crowbar and an associate, despite a manager’s displeasure.
Ypiranga employees had to break open a padlock on the dressing room gate, preventing the players from entering during the interval. According to Canarinho’s management, the padlock was placed by the FGF. pic.twitter.com/a8dRKDji6n

Those responsible for Ypiranga accuse the Gaúcha football association of having placed the padlock during half-time. The entity that oversees football in Rio Grande do Sul has already responded, through a statement, guaranteeing that it is “investigating the facts so that such a situation does not happen again”.
“We also emphasize that the safety and integrity of anyone was not compromised during the incident,” the note read.
