TrackMyWatt: a new tool from the creator of CovidTracker to track French energy consumption

The founder of CovidTracker has launched a new tool: TrackMyWatt, which tracks energy consumption in France.

While the government announced its winter sobriety plan yesterday, energy consumption is being closely monitored. This is where the TrackMyWatt tool, created by Guillaume Rozier, the founder of covid trackerintervenes.

TrackMyWatt observes in real time (with an update every fifteen minutes) “the consumption and production of energy in France”.

The data is based on that provided by RTE, the electricity transmission network in France.

An energetic weather forecast

The tool currently has three functionalities: monitoring of the power consumed (in Mw) to avoid peaks and cuts in consumption, monitoring of the total energy consumed in the month, compared to previous months, to reduce consumption and presentation of a summary of the consumption peaks to know the distribution and value of the electricity consumption peaks throughout the year. Kind of like an energetic weather forecast.

There is already the EcoWatt site that features the same type of system with a green, orange and red level to indicate if the system is under voltage. But it is up to Guillaume Rozier “to do the pedagogy and give more precise figures to the French to measure and control their energy consumption,” he specified. to the microphone of France Info.

At the moment the site is quite simple, Guillaume Rozier and his team plan to add many features in the coming weeks.
