A few days after the unthinkable incident in which one of the windows of an Alaska Airlines Boeing was torn out after several minutes of flight, an iPhone was found that had fallen through the huge hole in the plane.
It was a resident of Portland, located in Oregon, who was surprised, upon picking up an Apple brand smartphone on the side of the road, to discover that it belonged to a passenger on the plane.
It all started when he, like several other residents, was participating in a search to find parts of the plane’s cabin. Although the incident caused no casualties, it led to a formal inspection of all 737 Max 9s delivered by Boeing, currently grounded by US authorities.
A fall from 5,000 meters and an intact iPhone
While searching near a bush, he came face to face with the iPhone in question, before realizing that it was in “Airplane” mode, but nonetheless included a travel confirmation and a baggage claim receipt from the Flight 1282: “I called the National Transportation Safety Board,” he told ABC News, who confirmed that it was indeed a phone that a passenger had lost during the “incident.”
Despite its dizzying fall of 5,000 meters, the iPhone was still in perfect working order. The only damage was the remains of a charging cable, torn off when the phone was swallowed by the air current, its temporary owner confirmed to Bloomberg. This should make Nokia and its reputedly indestructible 3310 jealous.
