Huawei fleas “delay a generation” in those of the United States, said Ren Zhengfei, founder of the Chinese private giant, in an interview published Tuesday by an official medium.
Washington has been accusing the company for several years of manufacturing teams that could allow Beijing to firm foreign countries. An accusation denied by the shanzhen group (southern China).
The United States has published new guidelines in May of the warning companies that the use of high -tech Chinese semiconductors for artificial intelligence (AI), in particular the fleas of Huawei ascending, expose them to the risk of violation of US export controls and, therefore, sanctions.
Performance considered exaggerated
In an interview with The Daily Life of the People, the Journal of the Community Party in Power, Ren Zhengfei, said that the United States “exaggerated” the performance of Huawei fleas. “We still have a generation delay in the United States,” he said.
The strictest controls implemented in recent years by Washington have prevented Nvidia, the American fleas giant and one of Huawei’s rivals, to sell certain semiconductors for AI to Chinese companies, considered the most advanced in the world. Consequently, it is now faced in China, a crucial market, with a tougher competition of local competitors, especially Huawei.
Nvidia head, Jensen Huang, said in May that Chinese companies were “very talented and very determined, and exports control gave them the mental state, energy and government support to accelerate their development.” But Ren Zhengfei said that Huawei “is not yet as efficient as that.”
When asked about his mental state against the “pressures” from abroad, a particular reference to US restrictions, Ren Zhengfei said it was “useless to think about all this.” “You have to do the job and keep moving forward,” he said.
Since 2019, US sanctions are limiting Huawei access to components and technologies in the United States, which has forced the company to diversify its growth strategy.
China regularly accuses the United States of wanting to contain the development of its companies in technology to maintain their supremacy in the sector.
