Before this scourge, a Frenchman, Xavier Béliss, decided to launch his own weapon, available for a few days. Called Vigiphone, its founder describes it as “the only community application that allows you to filter phone calls thanks to a base of more than 11 million identified numbers and the blockages offered by all users of the application.”
A request paid
To start, it is necessary to connect to your Google account when you open the application (it is only available on Android smartphones at this time). To block unwanted calls, it is necessary to define it as a default telephone application.
From there, when the user receives a call, Vigiphone will verify if the number is part of their contacts, as France explains 3. If this is not the case, an algorithm will navigate a database of more than 11 million numbers identified as belonging to the addresses.
If the incoming number is part of this list, the user will not even be informed of the call because his smartphone will not sound, the appellant is sent directly to the answering machine. The problem is that it is necessary to pay to access this list, which is updated.
To benefit from the full offer of Vigiphone, you will have to pay € 1.99. A sum that will allow access to two lists: that “numbers related to the telephone canvas” and that of the numbers reported by the community. Without this, the user can share unwanted numbers with the community, but without accessing these lists. Only unwanted calls on your personal list will be blocked.
This application competes directly with the orange phone, which also allows blocing unwanted calls based on a telephone number database driven by the community. For its part, the orange phone, however, allows you to detect these free calls. It is accessible to all, whatever your operator.
