“At the end of this year, I am not running for another term in the Bundesrat. Berset had assumed the rotating role of president of the Swiss Confederation for a second time on January 1 this year, and this month had said he would seek re-election following national elections scheduled for October, when he stated to the Swiss public television channel SRF that “there is still a lot to do” and had “very large files on the table that I would like to finish”.
In Switzerland, the presidency rotates among the seven government ministers (the Federal Council), who continue to fulfill their ministerial duties while fulfilling the role of president of the Confederation.
