This is the end of restrictions in Australia. The country announced on Friday that it would end the five-day isolation period for anyone who tests positive for Covid in the country. This announcement will come into force on October 14, says the BBC.
It was the medical director, Paul Kelly, who decreed the end of the state of emergency in this country that has suffered the most severe restrictions due to the Covid epidemic. However, he assured that this decision “in no way suggests that the pandemic is over.”
Mandatory isolation was one of the latest restrictions imposed in Australia, which closed its borders to tourists for two years. The country registers around 5,000 cases every day.
“Peaks of the Future”
Paul Kelly also clarified that the country will experience “future spikes” of the virus, but that the number of hospitalizations is currently “very low.”
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said aid for people with Covid will be cut. “These measures were always considered to be emergency measures,” he justified.
The Australian Medical Association expressed its disagreement with the decision, the BBC reported.
