Israel broadcasts videos presented as those of hostages taken on October 7 at the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza

The Israeli army assures that these images “prove the presence of a Hamas headquarters” in the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip. For its part, Hamas assures in a statement that the two hostages visible in the images received, on the contrary, care in this establishment, now under siege by the IDF in the framework of its ground operation.

A reason for hope for families who are still waiting? At a press conference on Sunday afternoon, the Israeli military released images purportedly from surveillance cameras at Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital showing hostages introduced into the establishment’s facilities.

“I will share with you concrete evidence about these hostages, one comes from Nepal, the other from Thailand, they were kidnapped during the massacre carried out by Hamas on October 7. Hamas hid and murdered our hostages there. “Shifa Hospital”, Daniel Hagatri, the IDF spokesperson explained in a press conference.

These images, which have not been officially authenticated, appear to be dated October 7, 2023, the day the Palestinian Islamist movement carried out its attack against Israel, the most violent in the country’s history since 1948, killing around 1,200. people, mostly civilians, according to Israeli authorities, and taking about 240 hostages.

Hamas denies it

In one of the videos, a seriously injured man is seen being carried down a hallway on a stretcher surrounded by several men, at least four of whom are armed. At least three other men are wearing blue medical gowns.

In another video, an individual appears to struggle while being pushed toward what appears to be an entrance to the establishment.

“Here you can see Hamas taking a hostage inside,” Daniel Hagari added. “We have not yet located these two hostages,” he added. “We don’t know where they are.” “Now the truth is clear. Hamas wages war from hospitals.”

Ezzat al-Rishq, a senior Hamas political official cited in a statement from the movement, responded to Daniel Hagari in the evening.

“Nous avons dit depuis longtemps que la résistance avait amené plusieurs des prisonniers de l’occupant dans des hôpitaux pour qu’ils reçoivent des soins et des opérations, notamment parce que certains ont été blessés dans des bombardements aériens” israeliens, at- he says .

“We show pictures of all this and the army spokesman acts like he discovered something incredible,” he continued.

Questioned by BFMTV, Colonel Olivier Rapinowicz, French spokesman for the Israeli army, believes that these videos prove, on the contrary, the presence of bases of the Islamist group in the health facility.

“They enter the hospital when they return home because this hospital serves and has served for years as the central base, the headquarters of the Hamas forces and their military force in the Gaza Strip. Why is the IDF in the hospital in Shifa? You have a part “The answer is that Shifa is part of Hamas’ war apparatus,” he insists.

Tunnels

In retaliation for the October 7 attack, Israel vowed to “annihilate” the movement and its army relentlessly bombed the small Palestinian territory where it launched a ground operation on October 27. But the magnitude of the destruction has drawn criticism from the international community.

A total of 13,000 people have been killed in Israeli bombings since October 7, including more than 5,500 children, according to the Hamas government.

Shortly before the dissemination of these images, the Israeli army indicated that it had discovered a 55-meter-long tunnel, used according to it “for terrorism”, under the Al Chifa hospital.

This tunnel is ten meters deep, the army stated, while dozens of patients are still in this hospital complex, the largest in the Gaza Strip, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

“A steep staircase leads to the entrance of the tunnel,” equipped with various means of defense, including an armored door, the army explained in a statement. “This type of door is used by Hamas terrorists to prevent Israeli forces from entering command centers.”

The tunnel was discovered in an area of the hospital under a hangar containing weapons, including “grenade launchers, explosives and Kalashnikov rifles,” he said, adding that soldiers were continuing to advance underground. Israeli forces have besieged the hospital since Wednesday, where Hamas denies any military activity.

Furthermore, Daniel Hagari stated that the autopsy report of soldier Noa Marciano, a hostage found dead near Al-Chifa, according to the Israeli army, shows that she had been “killed on the spot by a Hamas terrorist.” Hamas claims she was killed in an Israeli bombing.

“During the army bombings, her captor died and Noa was injured, but not seriously, that’s what the autopsy report says,” Daniel Hagari concluded.
