Volodymyr Zelensky’s army regularly requests tanks from its European partners and allies. But the Ukrainian forces do not rely solely on mobile weapons: artillery, infantry and also snipers go to the front every day to try to repel the Russian army.
This is the case of Andriy, an ex-soldier who is now a lone wolf, who “works” at night, alone. Like all snipers, he is armed with a high-precision rifle. “There’s a silencer, thermal vision goggles… And I use Russian bullets,” he says, masked, into the BFMTV microphone.
“Also, I have to admit that they are of good quality! I think it’s normal, after all, to kill the enemy with your own weapons.”
It was only after dark that Andriy made his way to the front. “No one will come there to help me, I can leave my skin there,” he says.
“Let this war end as soon as possible”
Once near the desired location, he dons his safety gear before positioning himself at the edge of a forest and waiting for his prey. To be discreet, it is in complete darkness, with infrared vision, that this sniper reaches his position.
The next morning, at home, he shows the result of his night before the BFMTV cameras.
“Here are two men who are about to lay antipersonnel mines: my bullet hits both of them, you see they are trying to crawl… Even though I killed only two of them, I did a good job because they didn’t have time to activate the mines” says the sniper.
Andriy assures that he “does not take pleasure in killing Russians.” He “just wants this war to end as soon as possible. And for that I have to kill them, unfortunately.”
