Almost 7 cents increase in a week. In just a few days, the liter of diesel has returned to the symbolic bar of 1.80 euros at the pump. And since the beginning of July, diesel has taken 14 cents a liter, unleaded 95-E10 more than 10 cents. At service stations, faced with this rise in prices, motorists try to adapt.
Normandy instead of south
“I don’t even look anymore, because it goes up but never goes down,” laments a Parisian motorist into the BFMTV microphone. I try to calculate my routes: I look at my route to see the distances, which I didn’t. do before”.
“We try to drive slowly, explains this other driver, in Arcueil (Val-de-Marne). Instead of consuming 6 liters per 100, I consume 4”. This other driver from Montrouge in Hauts-de-Seine has also reviewed his daily habits such as “going back to get bread on foot”.
In the middle of the holiday period, some also reviewed their plans.
“We are going to Normandy instead of going south,” adds the motorist crossed in Montrouge on BFMTV.
train, shared car
“I went by train but suddenly I chose the train when I often go by car,” confesses a resident of Hauts-de-Seine. This option is clearly less expensive, confirms this other conductor: “At the level of the train, it is still cheaper because to cover long distances [en voiture, ndlr] we will have to refuel once or twice, so it is still expensive.”
Another tip: share a car, to share the costs.
“I’m going to try to take Blabla Car, explains this motorcyclist from Arcueil. In the end, gasoline + tolls, it’s going to cost me 50 euros when I go down to Nice, so it’s the price level we’re doing”.
Some, however, are already thinking about the consequences on their wallets at the start of the school year. “I use my car, but I am lucky enough to telework a bit, so it will have fewer consequences”, estimates our driver from Hauts-de-Seine.
