Fuel prices fall for the third consecutive week

Fuel operations at cost price and especially the drop in the price of oil explain this drop in prices at the pump, which return to their summer prices.

An outbreak that was not willing to stop and that would continue until the end of the year. These were September’s alarmist predictions about fuel prices at the pump. However, for several weeks now, calm seems to be confirmed. It may be temporary, but it eases motorists’ wallets in the meantime.

According to data from the Ministry of Energy Transition, prices at the pump fell again last week for the third consecutive time. This Friday, October 13, the average price of SP95 – E10 was 1,816 euros per liter on average, which represents a decrease of 4.7 cents in one week.

For its part, diesel fell 4.4 cents to 1.85 euros per liter on average in the territory. After the summer spike, the SP95 returned to its mid-July price level. The drop in the price of diesel, however, is minor. The most consumed fuel in France has returned to its level at the beginning of September.

This drop is partly explained by fuel cost operations carried out by large retail brands that contributed to slowing the increase.

But it is above all the fall in barrel prices that explains last week’s significant drop. North Sea oil (Brent) fell to 89 euros per barrel, a drop of 2.7 dollars in a week and even 6 dollars compared to the maximum reached at the end of September.
