The government will mobilize an additional two hundred million euros to accelerate the development of electricity terminals in France, announced the Minister of Transport, who will meet on Friday with the actors in the sector with the Minister of Energy Transition. “This fall we are going to take a step forward in terms of electric cars: an additional 200 million euros to accelerate the deployment of terminals, reinforcement of the ecological bonus for the most modest, arrival of social leasing for the middle classes, simplification of the retrofit,” he claimed. declared Clément Beaune, summarizing the announcements planned for Friday before professionals in the sector.
With 110,000 public terminals installed, quadrupled in four years, according to people close to the minister, France has begun to recover ground. The country, whose transport constitutes the main greenhouse gas emitting sector (32% in 2022), is now the second best equipped country, behind the Netherlands and ahead of Germany. But only 10% of French terminals have fast charging, mainly in motorway service areas, although these devices are considered essential to convince motorists to abandon the internal combustion engine. President Emmanuel Macron has set the goal of 400,000 public terminals by 2030. At the same time, the number of electric vehicles should multiply tenfold, reaching 13 million, according to projections by Avere, a meeting of industrialists in the sector. .
The tax credit for installing a terminal at home increases to 500 euros
The new allocation of 200 million should make it possible to “support the development of fast charging terminals” and their installation in “three specific areas: collective residential, road terminals and charging for heavy vehicles,” Clément specifies. The Beaune office. At the same time, the ecological bonus granted to the most modest to buy an electric vehicle, currently 7,000 euros, will be “revalued,” but “the figure has not yet been arbitrated,” the cabinet states. The tax credit for the installation of a domestic terminal should increase from 300 to 500 euros, he adds.
Finally, the decrees that will establish the rules of the social leasing system, which will allow the most modest to access electricity for 100 euros per month, “will be published in the coming days,” announces the Council of Ministers. Combining ecological bonus and rental aid, “the idea is to have very important aid from the State for the first rental and thus lower the rent to 100 euros for individuals,” we detail.
Other measures are planned, including a tax advantage for companies that modify the engine of a thermal vehicle for an electric or hydrogen one, what is known as a “retrofit.” In September, 19.1% of new registrations in France corresponded to 100% electric vehicles, according to ministry figures.
