After approaching that level a few weeks ago, or even exceeding it in some points, fuel prices are moving away from the symbolic threshold of 2 euros per liter. According to the latest weekly statement from the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the price of diesel continued to fall last week until reaching an average of 1.8077 euros per liter (-3.9 cents).
For its part, gasoline, which had increased a week before, made the opposite move: SP95-E10 is now priced at 1.8171 euros per liter, that is, 2.2 cents less.
Fear over global oil demand
This drop in prices at the pumps occurs in a context of falling oil prices in recent days: the barrel of Brent was quoted on average at 84.3 dollars last week, 4.5 dollars less than seven days before.
On Wednesday, November 8, it even fell below $80 for the first time since July. The reason: the bleak economic outlook in China and Europe, which is stoking fears about global demand.
However, oil prices rebounded slightly on Monday, driven by the uncertain geopolitical context. Around 1:30 p.m. in Paris, a barrel of North Sea Brent for delivery in January rose 0.26%, to $81.64.
