“I think Europe must fully accelerate electric cars”: Forvia boss defends Europe’s vision

The CEO of automotive supplier Forvia, Patrick Koller, calls on the European Commission and the United States not to change course and continue in the direction of the transition to electric.

He compares the automotive industry to a “supertanker.” Because once started, it is not easy to change course. Now that the European Union has set a goal of ending new combustion engine cars by 2035, Patrick Koller, CEO of automotive supplier Forvia, is calling for everything possible to be done to achieve this.

“I think that Europe, once the decision has been made, must fully accelerate the electric car,” said Patrick Koller at the microphone of BFM Business. And what does it matter if the 2035 goal is not met? According to him, we must move in the electric direction.

2035? If we don’t make it, “it doesn’t matter”

“If we found out in 2032 or 2033 that we won’t get it, it doesn’t matter, we’ll delay it for a few years. But what we need is to reach a critical mass.” [de véhicules] enough to be able to offer consumers competitive solutions,” he explains.

Patrick Koller regrets the slowdown in the growth of electric car sales in Europe. Above all, he asks regulators not to change course. “We were asked to go in one direction. The European Commission has regulated in that direction. Neither it nor the States can change the rules of the game overnight,” warns Patrick Koller.
