The Geneva Motor Show cancels the 2025 edition

The Geneva Motor Show, which returns in 2024 after a four-year absence, will not be held next year, its organizing committee said.

The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) announced on Friday that it was giving up organizing a next edition due to the prospects considered uncertain for the automobile industry.

“Too many uncertainties”

“The Board of the Geneva International Motor Show Foundation points out that there are too many uncertainties related to the automobile industry and
the loss of attractiveness of the large European fairs to run the risk of projecting further into the future,” he said in a statement.

Created in 1905, the Geneva International Motor Show has long been a must-see for new car launches, especially in Europe. At its peak, no less than 120 exhibitors came to Palexpo.

But after the cancellation of the 2020 edition due to the pandemic, the Geneva show was interrupted for three more years before returning last February.

The 2024 edition, intended to mark the rebirth of the Swiss show, only brought together a large European manufacturer, Renault, and Chinese manufacturers. In total, the fair attracted 168,000 visitors out of a target of 200,000.
