Following the directions of your GPS can sometimes lead you to a dead end. More precisely here, when his vehicle got trapped between two vaults in the cemetery of Gréasque (Bouches-du-Rhône). This is what happened to a motorist on Wednesday, according to La Provence.
At around 3 a.m., the man from Marseille went to Gréasque, to visit a neighbour in this village between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. Early in the morning, his Citroën C4 Picasso was found trapped between two graves, at the end of an alley in the village cemetery. A dozen other graves were damaged by the vehicle, as the path it had taken was obviously too narrow for the minivan, which got stuck at the end of the alley.
According to the mayor of the town interviewed by La Provence, the driver explained that she followed the instructions of the GPS.
“Municipal employees […] “I had a lot of difficulties getting the car out,” added Michel Ruiz.
These types of mishaps when following GPS directions are common, as in the United States in 2018 when a car ended up in a lake or in 2015 when a Belgian bus was diverted 1,200 kilometers in France because the driver had entered the wrong destination name.
