Another difficult Saturday on the country’s roads for holidaymakers. After a red Friday in a large district of the north-west, the day will be red again on 13 July in Brittany, in the departments on the English coast, but also in the Centre up to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
“Departures during the holidays will mainly take place in the morning until mid-afternoon. The A11, A10 (near Orleans) and A7 motorways will be particularly congested and access to the Mont-Tunnel White will be difficult,” Bison Futé said in its press release.
Although traffic may be difficult in Île-de-France, the region will not be classified as orange until Saturday. However, it will remain there throughout the weekend, as regards departures and returns.
A red Saturday from the English Channel to the Alps
Bison Futé therefore advises leaving or crossing Ile-de-France before midday on Saturday, but also to avoid:
- the A11 motorway, between Le Mans and Nantes, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
- the A10 motorway, near Orleans, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and near Bordeaux, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
- the A63 motorway, between Bordeaux and Bayonne, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.,
- the A7 motorway between Lyon and Orange, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
- the A9 motorway, between Béziers and Spain, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
- the national road N85, between Grenoble and Gap, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
- the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205), between France and Italy, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Île-de-France classified orange on Sunday
The difficulties will be resolved on Sunday, July 14. The Paris region will be the scene of the majority of traffic jams, both on the way in and out.
Between the ceremonies for the national holiday, weekend outings and the passing of the flame in the capital, the day is classified as orange. Bison Futé therefore advises leaving Île-de-France before 8 a.m. or returning before noon.
In the mid-afternoon, the A7 motorways between Lyon and Orange and the Mont-Blanc tunnel should also be avoided.
