Renault Group on Thursday reported global sales that posted a slight increase of 1.9% in the first half of the year, thanks in particular to its hybrid engines.
With 1,154,700 vehicles sold, the French group remains at its level of the first half of 2021 and 2023.
The share of electrified vehicles now represents 29.6% of the group’s sales in Europe, thanks in particular to the success of hybrid vehicles (Renault Clio, Captur or Austral), whose sales increased by 59.6% compared to the first half of 2023.
The share of electric vehicles remains stable in a declining European market: large battery cars account for almost 12% of Renault brand sales, as in the first half of 2023.
But sales are expected to pick up in the second half of the year thanks to the launch of the electric Scenic and R5.
The Renault brand recorded a 2% increase in sales (including commercial vehicles), “driven by its success in Europe,” according to the group.
After months of strong growth, Dacia posted a more modest 4% increase. The compact Sandero, the most sold model on the European market, counterbalances the stable sales of the Duster SUV, in the course of renewal, and the Spring electric base, handicap for the suppression of bonuses in France, manufactured in France in China.
The premium brand Alpine has had a very good first half of the year with an increase of 47.7% (2,569 registrations), driven by the success of its expanded range with the A110 R Turini Berlinette.
