This coming weekend will see the traditional crossing between July and August residents, with significant risks of traffic jams from this Friday, August 2, until Monday, warns Bison Futé. These are the main risks of traffic jams that can be expected.
Friday, August 2, red alert on the French Riviera
Traffic is expected to be very heavy from Friday onwards. As for departures, Bison Futé predicts “heavy traffic throughout the territory throughout the day”.
Among the expected critical points are the axes serving the north-eastern regions (A2), but also those leading to Spain via Bordeaux (A10, A63) and Narbonne (A9), as well as those heading south (A6, A7, A8, A50). Crossing the Massif Central also promises to be complicated (A71 and A75).
“In the Île-de-France region, traffic will be heavy from the end of the morning towards the various toll booths, especially on the A6 and A10 motorways,” notes Bison Futé, who also aims to anticipate the flow of work trips, home and weekend getaways.
On the return leg, traffic promises to be very complicated around the Mediterranean arc, classified as red for this Friday.

Beware of Olympic routes in the Paris region
If you are travelling in the Paris region during the Olympic and Paralympic period, 185 km of lanes on the roads around Paris are reserved for the circulation of accredited vehicles. Enough to potentially disrupt your departures or returns from vacation.
The A1, A4, A12 and A13 motorways, as well as the N13 and the ring road, are particularly affected by these restrictions. Other routes close to the Olympic venues, in the Île-de-France region and in the provinces, may be particularly busy at the time of the events.
Bison Futé advises holidaymakers and other users to avoid crossing the Paris region as much as possible during this period and recommends that they consult the “Anticipar les jouets” sites (with road information updated daily), Sytadin for Île-de-France and its own site to consult traffic conditions and road conditions in real time.
