How far will the price reduction at the pump go? Fuel prices fell again last week, according to the latest weekly report from the Ministry of Ecological Transition on Friday, August 30.
Diesel thus stood at an average of 1.6093 euros per litre in France, a drop of 2.5 cents compared to the previous week.
Unleaded gasoline 95 E10 fell by 3.4 cents to 1.7188 euros per liter.
With this sixth consecutive week of declines, diesel is at its lowest level since January 2022.
As far as fuel is concerned, this has not been heard of for a long time either. In fact, we must go back to December 2022, but to a period when fuels benefited from a government discount of 10 cents, as well as a 10 cent discount practiced by Totalenergies. A discount of up to 20 cents which ended on January 1, 2023.
Against a backdrop of slow global growth, with fears of a slowdown or even a recession in the United States, crude oil prices are currently at a relatively low level.
This remained the case last week, although a barrel of Brent rose by just over a dollar to $80.9.
