The car manufacturer Stellantis announced on the night of Thursday to Friday the retirement at the beginning of 2026 of its boss Carlos Tavares, as well as changes with immediate effect of several executives of the group.
In particular, the group has appointed Doug Ostermann, until now director of operations in China, to the position of financial director, replacing Natalie Knight. The latter, Stellantis specifies in a press release, will leave the group.
“68 is a reasonable age”
“To simplify and improve the performance of its organization in a turbulent global environment,” the French-Italian-American group has decided to make “specific organizational changes that will take effect immediately in its management team,” the statement states.
It is, he continues, “about reorienting the company towards its main operational priorities and determinedly facing the global challenges facing the automotive sector.”
The Portuguese technician indicated in October, during a visit to the historic Peugeot factory in Sochaux, that he could retire in January 2026.
“In 2026 the person who answers you will be 68 years old, it is a reasonable age to retire, it is the option,” he told reporters.
The group indicated in its statement that the process of identifying his successor at the end of his term, in January 2026, has already formally begun.
It has been entrusted to a special committee of the board of directors chaired by John Elkann, which is expected to complete its work in the fourth quarter of 2025.
