Road: How much will toll prices increase on February 1?

The price of road tolls will increase on average by 0.92% on February 1, 2025, below inflation.

The toll rates increased slightly by 2025. As of February 1, the prices of Highway tolls will rise 0.92% on average in France. Increases differ according to highway companies.

The increase remains moderate, below inflation, after record increases in recent years ( +3% in 2024 and even +4.75% in 2023). Each year, the toll rate is calculated on the basis of inflation and investment plans for highways.

Here are the increases in the prices of the tolls that enter into force on February 1, 2025, depending on the operators:

• Sanef (Norther and Eastern Road Society): +0.84%

• SAPN (Paris-Normandie Motorway Society): +1.14%

• APPR (Paris-Rhin-Rhône Motuloway): +1.08%

• Area (Rhône-Alpes Autoway Company): +1.10%

• Cofiroute (Center-West, Vinci Authoroutes): +0.77%

• ASF (highways in southern France, Vinci Autoutes): +0.77%

• Escota (Esterel-Côte d’Sur Motors, Author Outos de Vinci): +0.77%

“The weakest since 2021”

“The increase in toll rates in 2025 will be the lowest since 2021, much lower than inflation,” the now former transport minister François Durovray will rejoice, at the time of negotiations with highway companies at the beginning of December.

“This is very good news for the purchasing power of households,” he said.

These prices remain very limited to threats made by certain highways companies last year. They promised to increase prices very strongly (up to +5%) in reaction to a tax established by the Government in the 2024 budget.

It was not the case. While highway companies generally have the advantage in the confrontation of negotiations with the government, the approach to the end of road concessions may have changed the situation this time.
