Skoda is currently launching its Novelu Electric SUV, Elroq, a little brother of the ENYAQ, which was a good success last year, such as Skoda, a form in the shape of the Volkswagen group.

It is a brand that seems to pass between the drops of the current storm that crosses the car. Skoda can continue to smile with sales last year and, in particular, in Electric. Earth where manufacturers fight a terrible battle in Europe, with the hardening of CO2 standards this year and Horizon 2035 with the prohibition of sales of new thermal cars.

Last year, the Czech brand of the Volkswagen Group ended fourth in Europe (the 27 EU countries and the United Kingdom) behind Volkswagen, Toyota and BMW.

And in the electric, the ENYAQ also wins a beautiful fourth position: behind the Duo of Tesla, Model and and Model 3, and the Ex30 Volvo. The 100% electric SUV thus pays the luxury of duplicating its technical cousin, the Volkswagen ID.4, just behind the fifth place.

In France, the brand has ended in eleventh place and now aims to integrate the Top 10, in particular with a new model in its range: Elroq.

An electric karoq, more compact than the enyaq

This elroq has a good potential to seduce, with particular a more compact format than inyaq. At 4.49 meters, it is 17 centimeters less than his big brother in the range.

Therefore, it is in direct competition with two French models: the Renault Scénnic and Peugeot E-3008. It can also be compared to the KIA EV3, 10 centimeters shorter at 4.39 meters.

The idea is also that Skoda offers a zero program alternative to his Skoda Karoq. This is also the explanation given for the name of this model: an electric karoq, which is therefore … the elroq.

A very spacious interior

It is inside that Elroq is particularly interesting. Despite its reduced size compared to the ENYAQ, it has the same wheelbase and, therefore, a very close space on board, generous in the front and in the rear. Finally, it is the size of the trunk that the ENYAQ makes the difference, with 585 liters, against 470 liters for Elroq.

However, the volume remains correct and is built with a kind of small hammock, which can allow you to store, for example, a layer, as well as a network under the rear cover with a load cable always by hand.

Enough to correct the absence of fruit, the trunk before finding, for example, in the Tesla. It is not possible to have a solar roof or panoramic roof: they are actually the only inconvenience of informing about this model, which benefits from a modern and very well finished interior.

We take advantage of a 13 -inch touch pad, with an improved interface by Skoda and has corrected the errors found in the ENYAQ. We always take advantage of the Carplay or Android Auto wireless, a good point. It is complemented with a 5 -inch meter screen that brings together all the information necessary to drive.

Our test model, in a high -level “plus” finish, also benefited from the interior “Lodge” that has the merit of bringing some light in the passenger compartment with a dominant light gray and small details of orange as in the seat belts.

A successful version of “Big Battery”

We tested this model in its version that offers the largest battery capacity, version 85 (net capacity of 77 kWh), associated with a 286 horsepower engine, for an announced autonomy of more than 575 kilometers.

During our test in the basty weather, with a mixed route, in the city, on small mounting and fast roads, our consumption was 21 kWh per 100 kilometers. Enough to expect real autonomy, under such conditions, about 350 kilometers.

This very high version was very nice to drive, with a good relationship between dynamism and comfort.

The most impressive thing certainly: the diameter of the theft of less than 10 meters (it breaks stricter than the last Renault R5), despite its SUV template, the Elroq can make maneuvers with great ease.

There are also many cameras and the upper view. Enough to be completely comfortable to park, for example.

In the electric pipe, the regenerative braking can be adjusted to three levels or also pass in a handling mode (free wheels) to a B mode that greatly increases this energy recovery to the deceleration.

On the recharge side, this Elroq can collect up to 175 kW in direct current, a fast charge of 10 to 80% in 25 minutes.

For slow load, when alternating the current, it must be satisfied with 11 kW, without the possibility of increasing this optional power.

Elroq prices, 33,300 euros

Versions 85, with the great battery, begin at 42,470 euros with the third level of “intelligent” finish. For our trial model, we go to the “more” finish at 44,430 euros (LED front headlights, LED rear lights, electric chest …) and add some options: the beautiful green trimian, the 21 -inch wheels, the heat pump , the interior “Lodge”. Then, the winter package (Tri air conditioning areas, rear seats with heating and windshield), and the DCC Plus Drive Pack (controlled suspensions, progressive dynamic direction and the steering wheel 3 sports sports sports ones with leather with multifunction palettes with pallets).

What to see the final invoice board 50,000 euros. Note that we can reduce the amount of ecological bonus, with manufacturing in the Czech Republic, and prices exclude options that remain under the ceiling of 47,000 euros.

But other versions of Elroq are much more affordable. The Entry -Vel City 50 version, with a 52 kWh battery that announces 370 kilometers of autonomy. A basic finish that already contains many equipment (automatic air conditioning, keyless boot, screens duo, investment chamber …).

But, without a doubt, it is version 60 (59 kWh battery) with 425 kilometers of autonomy that offers the best commitment, of 36,620 euros (excluding bonds).

Keep in mind that Skoda and 4×4 sports versions are planned a little later in the year. Enough to meet a large part of the needs of many drivers.
