Fuels: what is the situation at the gas stations a few hours after the discount ends?

Almost one in three stations in France was in difficulty (partial or total failure) on Tuesday morning, and even more so in large urban areas, on the eve of the reduction of the state discount and TotalEnergies.

Precipitation at the stations due to the double drop in fuel discounts this Wednesday, November 16. This Tuesday night at midnight, prices will mechanically jump at the pump.

The reduction, launched by the Government since September 1 and which lowered prices at the pump by 30 cents per liter, will drop to 10 cents per liter. That of TotalEnergies -which was combined with that of the State- will be reduced from 20 to 10 cents per liter.

Last day for a full “maximum discounts”

In summary: this Tuesday represents the last day to refuel at a price benefited by this double boost. After a busy weekend of November 11 on the roads, this anticipation of the rise in prices puts pressure on fuel distribution, barely recovered from the strike movement that blocked refineries and fuel storage centers in recent weeks.

This Tuesday morning, according to our card count carried out in collaboration with the Essence&Co app (mon-essence.fr site), almost one in three stations still seemed to be partially exhausted (at least one fuel is missing) or totally

Difficulties especially in Ile-de-France

Since Monday, the difficulties have been concentrated in large urban areas, in Ile-de-France and in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, but also with tensions over supplies near several large cities such as Lille, Strasbourg, Marseille, Nice or Toulouse.

Regional disparities are strong, AFP pointed out for its part: in 17 departments, more than 40% of the stations lacked gasoline or diesel. This was the case for most of the departments in the Paris region, such as Seine-Saint-Denis (49.5% of affected stations), Val d’Oise (46%), Yvelines (45%) and Paris (43 .6%).
