Less than 3,200 people were killed on the roads of Metropolitan France in 2024, according to the final evaluation communicated on Monday for road safety, almost stable compared to 2023. The National Interministerial Safety Observatory (Onisr) scored 3,193 deaths in France last year, an increase of 0.8%, as 236,000 injured.
The results of the road accident are a total of 3,432 dead, including abroad, confirming the first figures presented in January. “For the second consecutive year, the number of people killed on the roads remains below 3,200 dead,” said François-Noël Buffet, Minister of the Interior Minister.
Three quarters of the murdered and injured are men
“These results must be carried out on credit from all road users who respect the rules, and all professionals pledged to guarantee their safety and maintain roads, sometimes at the risk of their lives,” he added.
More than three quarters of those killed and serious injured are men, says road safety, which recalls that speed and alcohol are the first two fatal accident factors. The authorities call the road users to “the greatest prudence” when approaching summer vacation outings.
