The ecological bonus, the main purchase assistance for new electric cars in France, increases as of this Tuesday, July 1: a revaluation of between 200 and 1,200 euros depending on the revenue sections.
Less rich households, that is, located in deciles 1 to 5, benefit from the aid of the order of 4,200 euros, up to 4,000 euros so far. The same amount now for deciles from 6 to 8 depending on the composition of your home. Other households will benefit from 3,100 euros in help.
This bonus is supposed to encourage the transition to the electric car has also changed financing: it no longer depends on the state budget, in search of billions of savings, but on energy savings certificates (CEE).
Through these certificates, energy suppliers are encouraged to finance actions to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.
Procedures without changes for buyers
But nothing changes for buyers: they must provide their tax notice to the concessionaire, which will be in charge of online online on the energy supplier platform with which you will have a contract.
The conditions related to the vehicle are still identical to those currently in force: the car must cost less than 47,000 euros, including taxes, it must weigh less than 2.4 tons and obtain an environmental score greater than the minimum score required.
The purchase bonus will be complemented with the resumption of the “social lease” of September, which offers electric car rentals for three years at an advantageous price. It is for modest homes.
Reinforced support despite the budget rigor
The automotive platform (PFA), which represents the French automotive sector, estimated that these measures reflected “a real effort to find a way to maintain a support system, despite the pressure on public finances.”
However, the sector requested “attentive (…) with the readability and simplicity of the system for consumers and all actors”, as well as the “risk of repercussions on the cost of energy.”
The Stellantis Group (Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat …) has praised “this announcement that helps make electric mobility accessible to all.”
For Volkswagen France, “the mechanism of energy savings certificates is undoubtedly more complex in the implementation than in the previous system”, but “this initiative allows a large part of our clients to benefit from a higher advantage,” said a spokesman.
