It is not easy to renew a sales success: Renault, in fact, in a certain way the costs in its new Clio, recently presented at the beginning of the week with important changes in terms of design. A new drawing that caused a wave of reactions on social networks, often negative.
One before Ford or Mazda?
Many observers seem in particular to recognize models of other brands. Anthology:

The similarity with the Ford or Mazda models arises more frequently in the various publications on social networks.
The grid of this new Clio (photo above) clearly evolves compared to the fifth and current generation (photo below), with a logo now integrated and surrounded by diamond patterns when it made the union between the grid and the hood. There is also an important evolution of the light firm.

An air of family also with Mazda 2 of the third generation, especially in its phase 2 (2019-2022, in the photo below) whose format is closer to a clio. The current generation of Mazda 2 is in fact a cousin of the Toyota Yaris with little difference between the two models.

Others see it as a Ford Fiesta, as here with the latest version marketed before the production of this model is stopped in 2023.

Peugeot Lines and an alpha back?
Comparison with Peugeot 208 is also often mentioned, especially for vehicles and wheels marked in black.

Marked wheel arches that are in fact in 208, which also remains the main competitor of the Clio.

The back of the Clio also changes radically with four separate lights, instead of the two usual blocks.

A quite original cut of lights and that does not really have an equivalent in the current automotive offer or even the concepts. It is rather the inclined profile of the rear that can evoke Alfa Romeo models as the last junior, but also the Renault Rafale.

Diesel’s abandonment and rear camera also react
Nothing to do with the design, but many comments also criticize Renault for not offering more diesel engine in the catalog, while the current generation can still have the 90 DCI.
“Without diesel? It ends up not buying!” He is outraged with a Facebook user.
Many also point out that the rear camera, which was in the center of the logo, as in capture, was the subject of many flights. It is now under the opening of the trunk, just above the plate. Without a doubt, we hope it is more complex to steal.

A model presented just after the designer left
If Renault has not really given details about the genesis of this new design for the CLIO, the presentation of this model occurs a few weeks after the game of Gilles Vidal. The designer had arrived in 2020 from Peugeot and will return to the Stellantis group.
It is Laurens van den Acker, style director since 2009 in Renault, but who had assumed the height at the group level in the four brands (Renault, Dacia, Alpine, mobilizes) in recent years, which should “recover things in hand”, as a comment on X.
A comment that strongly criticizes the design of this new Clio, highlighting the lack of consistency with Renault’s latest creations, such as The Scenic, The Burst or The Concept Car Emblem.
In fact, Laurens van Den Acker, we owe the design of Clio 4, launched in 2012 and was inspired by the 2010 concept car dezir. Clio 5 (before its important Rediring of 2023) resumed the design of the previous one.
