Cupra is one of the brands currently within the Volkswagen group. In the Munich Motor Show, the Tindaya concept reveals, which embodies its near future.
A fun name linked to a tradition in the seat, but also in Cupra, to give the name of a city or a place that evokes Spain to its models. And Monte Tindaya is in fact a volcanic mountain of the Canary Islands archipelago, on the island of Fuerteventura. So why wasn’t an upcoming model of the Cupra series formed, after the last Tavascan, Terramar and others were formed?
In this concept of Tindaya, the affiliation is found in the colors used, which evoke both the Atlantic Ocean, with a slightly bluish gray at the front and more copper reflexes in the rear to make the rocky appearance of this mountain.
Copper notes in the Cupra DNA and that are also found on 23 -inch giant tires. Mass wheels that adhere well to this “Super Suv Coupe” silhouette 4.72 meters long. The vehicle shows good proportions with this long hood and lines that reinforce its dynamic appearance.

“Animal” concept
Lines that also give a very “animal” aspect to this concept. The marked folds that lead on pronounced rear shoulders, revealing the use of linen fiber, appear “green” carbon fiber in the wings. The glass ceiling is even equipped with a central column to complete this mechanical skeleton.
An animal to be domesticated for the driver who will already be fascinated by his gaze: the de facto front panel houses a black mask under the lights that is actually a screen to show animations at the beginning and can also play with projections on different surfaces.

What even erases the edge between the physical and digital world: a very successful animation allows it to see that the light of the headlights passes from the projectors to this screen to disappear in a cloud: the beast has fallen asleep and only asks to wake up.

An evolutionary interior
The antagonistic and electrical doors allow you to easily admire the very futuristic interior. The seats seem to be levitation when supported by the central console that establishes a continuity between the front and the back of the passenger compartment and acts as a second column after the roof. In front of the driver, a video game atmosphere with a steering wheel “yoke” and a large screen of meters.

An interior that also plays in a very organic aspect by highlighting different materials and reducing controls and buttons at least. The one that changes the driving mode adopts the original form of a glass prism called “La Joya”. By pressing one of the three edges, it will go from a very Zen environment to dynamic animations with additional notifications in the lower part of the windshield. A return to an ultra world connected that contrasts with the desire that we can have to stay “in flat mode” when driving.
A future model in Cupra?
This concept, as futuristic as it is, still succeeds when different messages pass. On the next evolution of the cupra style, of course, but also about the desire to affirm certain principles on interior architecture. It already breaks with the multiplication of screens on board and prepares for a future where the pleasure of driving could continue to be a reality … Between two more or less autonomous driving modes.
Interesting point, in a period in which the 100% electric target in Europe by 2035 is the object of great debates, this concept avoids speaking in motorization. Of course, he imagines difficulty ignoring the zero program, especially with the will shown by the Volkswagen Group and, therefore, of Cupra, to democratize it in the coming years. The door remains open and then will be time to evoke what the Tindaya will encourage. But at first, this dead street also makes it possible to discuss other aspects in full mutation in the car.
