This is the first time in France: a group purchase for car and motorcycle insurance. Although the average premium to insure a car has risen another 3% this year, the operation was launched by a consumer association and an insurance broker.
Free registration on a dedicated site
“The objective of this operation is to negotiate discounts on the participants’ insurance premiums (free months or reduction percentages) guaranteeing them the best coverage according to their profile,” Families of France and Selectra explain in a joint press release.
Participation in this group purchase is free and without obligation, on a dedicated website. The form to be completed requests contact information, profession and your need for car, motorcycle or both insurance, as well as standard information on the type of trip (private, work or both), the age of the vehicle(s), the number of kilometers traveled per year and your driving history (duration of driving license, complaint history).
Once this pre-registration is complete, Selectra plans to launch “a call for bids to market insurers” in January 2023, specifying that “the pre-registration will remain open during the negotiation period.”
Up to 100 euros discount expected in the first year
The selected offer will be sent to potential interested parties between March and April, of course with the details of the price, guarantees and advantages, and a possible subscription calmly.
“Bonus, maluss, small cyclists, young drivers of small or large displacement: through this innovative operation, Families of France and Selectra offer solutions adapted to all. The more participants, the more advantageous the negotiated conditions will be,” states the statement from press
“The price of the insurance is around 641 euros per year for a car and 503 euros per year for a motorcycle. Our goal with this group purchase is to negotiate at least two months free during the first year, so a bonus between 80 and 100 euros”, explains Nolwenn Fajolles, head of Selectra’s group purchase department.
An amount of potential savings is equivalent, therefore, to the aid of 100 euros provided by the Government to replace the discounts on the price of a liter of fuel as of January 1, 2023. Last year, Selectra had already launched an offer similar in home insurance. The 15,000 registered received a 25% discount.
