Last days to take advantage of fuel discounts. At the end of 2022, pump prices remain at relatively low levels, compared to the year as a whole.
Diesel was quoted like this last week at almost 1.75 euros per liter, 0.7 cents more, and 95 E10 unleaded gasoline at 1.62 euros per liter, 0.1 cent less, according to the weekly report published by this Monday the Ministry of Energy Transition.
Beyond the discounts, oil prices, currently at fairly low levels, explain this stagnation of prices at the pump. A barrel of Brent from the North Sea thus sold at 80.2 dollars last week.
It remains to be seen how prices will evolve at the beginning of next year, with the end of the government discount of 10 cents per liter, and that of TotalEnergies of the same amount, which was added at the distributor’s stations.
On November 16 those two discounts had been lowered, from 30 to 10 cents for the government, from 20 to 10 cents in Total. If we look at the history of the ministry’s weekly balance (the two curves above), then the average price of diesel increased 10 cents, that of gasoline 13 cents, between the readings of November 11 and 18.
On December 31 at 00:00 hours these two discounts will disappear definitively, that is, a “mechanical” price increase of 20 cents per liter in Total and 10 cents in the rest of the delivery drivers during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The reduction of the government will be replaced by a help of 100 euros destined to the most modest French.
