After a year marked by new production and sales records, Tesla lowers the prices of its most popular models.
The Model 3 drops again from the 40,000 euros discounted bonus
In France, the Model 3 is already available starting at 44,990 euros, without an ecological bonus, compared to 53,490 euros so far. This corresponds to a reduction of 8500 euros in the first list price.
The Model Y, which was sold at a lower price than the sedan since last summer, is once again above its range cousin, but it also shows a significant drop: 3,000 euros less. The 100% electric SUV now starts at 46,990 euros, compared to the previous 49,990 euros. Solid black, which was billed at 1,200 euros, arrives on its side to complete the only color so far without extra cost, the pearly white multilayer.
Prices that allow Tesla buyers to once again benefit from the ecological bonus, version 2023. Deducting the 5,000 euros of state aid, the Model 3 sees its final price just under 40,000 euros. Discounted bonus, the Model Y is displayed on the side from 41,990 euros.
Optimization of production costs
Tesla explains these price reductions by developing its production methods, strengthening its “ability to make the best products at the best cost.” All in a particularly difficult context:
“Despite the significant challenges of the past year, ranging from semiconductor shortages and the energy crisis to logistical constraints and various covid-related disruptions, we continue to lay the foundation for our future growth by regionalizing our production and supply chain. supply,” Tesla said in a statement.
Opened in March 2022, the Tesla factory began producing Model Y Performance for European markets. For its part, its Shanghai factory was particularly affected by the resumption of the covid in China with several weeks of closures.
The American brand recalls in passing its very good performance in 2022, with the production of 1.37 million vehicles worldwide, a new record and an increase of 47% compared to 2022. “In Europe, the Model 3 and the Model Y have consistently reached the sales podium in many markets, not only in the electric category, but in all energies combined, ”says the press release.
Next highly anticipated date: Tesla’s financial results presentation due on January 25. In early January, a missed production target had plunged the US manufacturer’s share price, which had been falling sharply for several months.
