New episode of the technical control series on two wheels. This morning on RTL, the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, indicated that the technical control will not start on August 1, when the Council of State had just called the government to order on this issue, leaving it two months to implement it.
Clément Beaune had reacted by stating that the Government would “of course apply the decision of the Council of State” formulated on June 1, and that he himself would specify “in the coming days the calendar and the methods of technical control”.
Not by August 1 and “probably not before the end of the year”
But between the fact of establishing the methods of this technical control and its actual application, the minister has just specified that “the start-up will take a little more time”.
Clearly, if the government decree is published at the beginning of August, the technical control of the two wheels “probably not before the end of the year.”
“The technical centers must also be ready, so there is still a bit of work to be done. But I want to reassure myself: there will be no obligation on August 1 that will fall on the almost 4 million motorcyclists in France without warning and in the middle of summer “said Clement Beaune.
The minister also returned to the price of this new procedure, which she does not want to exceed 50 euros:
“I don’t want this to be an opportunity to make money. It is an obligation for road safety and to reduce noise, (…) I know that this worries many cyclists, so it has to be as economical as possible and as pragmatic as possible.”
