Income support amounts, which were calculated based on 2021 income statements, will be confirmed depending on the 2022 IRS statement and adjusted for subsequent months, AT announced Tuesday.
The calculation of the aid for 2023 will be confirmed on the basis of declared and settled income for the year 2022 and also on the basis of the criteria defined for determining the universe of beneficiaries, with payments for the months following that confirmation amended”said an official source of the Tax Authorities (AT), in response to Lusa.
The monthly income assistance grant was paid to more than 30,000 families in May and this Monday began disbursement to about 150,000 families, in both cases retroactive to the beginning of the year.
This support, created to mitigate the impact of rising prices, is intended for people with an income tax of more than 35% and can amount to 200 euros per month.
When the measure was launched and began to be paid, the amount of the subsidy was calculated on the basis of the 2021 annual accounts, in accordance with what was stipulated in the Decree Law of March 22, which stipulates that “the liquidation of the IRS that should be considered is the one that refers to the latest available tax period”.
For that reason, the aid paid for the year 2023 “takes into account the income for the year 2021, as the deadline for the delivery and settlement of the IRS 2022 is still pending,” said the same official source. from AT.
Once those deadlines have passed and the IRS campaign for 2022 has been completed, the approval of the aid will therefore be confirmed in the light of this new income tax return and adjusted accordingly.
In practice, this means that there may be situations where the aid may be reduced or increased in relation to the amount currently being paid or people who were not previously eligible may be eligible and vice versa.
Currently, the average aid amount of the more than 185,000 families eligible for the measure is around 100 euros.
To receive the aid, beneficiaries must register their IBAN with the AT and Social Security, and the letter sent to them with the calculations states that “if citizens identify a non-compliance, they must seek the necessary clarification to the entity owner of the source of information” using the email address [email protected].
