Inflation in the euro zone reaches a new record, with an annual 10% in September

The rise in prices continues to accelerate in the euro zone and already exceeds 10% per year in September according to Eurostat data. Energy and food prices strongly contribute to this development.

The inflation rate in the euro zone broke a new record in September, with an annual 10%, driven by energy prices but also by food prices, Eurostat announced on Friday.

Inflation had reached 9.1% in August for the 19 countries that share the single European currency. These figures are the highest recorded by the European Statistics Office since the start of publication of the indicator in January 1997.
