Flying taxi: AutoFlight signs a memorandum of understanding with Groupe ADP

The manufacturer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft will be able to test its devices from the Pontoise vertiport during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games through this agreement.

At the same time, ADP continues to develop vertiports in its infrastructure. Five others are under construction: Paris Heliport at Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris Austerlitz, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Le Bourget, Saint-Cyr l’Ecole.

EDF and Holcim join forces to supply synthetic fuels

EDF and cement maker Holcim have announced an alliance to create an “industrial pilot” to produce sustainable synthetic aviation fuels for sale to Air France-KLM.

Called “Take Kair”, the project should help prevent the emission of more than 100,000 tons of CO2 each year, they said in a press release.

Axens and IFP Energies nouvelles are also part of the alliance.

European missile manufacturer MBDA unveiled Aquila, a hypersonic missile interceptor

At the Paris Air Show, European missile maker MBDA unveiled the Aquila, a missile designed to intercept a hypersonic glider in mid-flight and even if it tries to dodge fire.

Aquila is at the heart of Hydis (HYpersonic Defense Interceptor), a European program that brings together, with MBDA, a consortium of 19 French, German, Italian and Dutch companies and about thirty subcontractors. The European Commission must validate the program, which will have a budget of 80 million euros. The European consortium has three years to develop its shield, which should be operational by 2035.
