EU energy ministers agree on emergency measures to reduce bills

Although opposition persisted between most of the Member States and the European Commission, the 27 reached an agreement to put in place emergency measures aimed at curbing the increase in the cost of energy.

European energy ministers reached an agreement on Friday on emergency measures to help households and businesses cope with rising energy prices, the Czech Presidency of the EU Council announced.

These measures consist of recovering part of the “super-profits” from energy producers to redistribute them to the consumer, and reducing the demand for electricity during peak hours.
