The association de défense droits des animaux PETA condemned jeudi l’usage de fourrure dans la première collection de Pharrell Williams pour Louis Vuitton présentée mardi à Paris, en jugeant que de telles pièces n’avaient leur place “que dans un musée d’ history”.
“Instead of being the innovative designer that Louis Vuitton desperately needs to keep up, Pharrell Williams presented a collection that only belongs in a history museum,” said Tracy Reiman, executive vice president of PETA US in a press release.
“Awful Fashion Sense”
“If mutilating animals makes Williams ‘happy’, PETA hopes his time at Louis Vuitton will be as fleeting as the lives of the animals who suffer from his horrible fashion sense,” he continued, alluding to the global hit “Happy” by which the new creative director of the Louis Vuitton men’s collections is the author.
Contacted by AFP, Louis Vuitton did not immediately react.
In a letter to Pharrell Williams, PETA US asked him to ban fur and reptile skins, recalling that other houses like Chanel “have stopped using exotic fur and skins.”
