TER: Occitania announces the “cheapest prices in France” to “prefer the train”

With its “+=Flex” offer aimed at people aged 27-59, the region hopes to increase the number of users of regional express trains from 80,000 to 100,000.

Occitania will offer from this summer the TER fares “the cheapest in France”, according to it, and intends to “simplify” the life of travelers thanks to a new application, to “make people prefer the train”, authorities announced Monday. .autonomous and the SNCF.

With its “+=Flex” offer for young people between the ages of 27 and 59, which will come into force on August 1, the region led by socialist Carole Delga hopes to boost the number of users of regional express trains, from 80,000 to 100,000. TER “liO”, explained during a press conference the vice president of the region, Jean-Luc Gibelin.

“We are taking a new step towards a range of prices that makes the train preferable” to other modes of transport, for environmental reasons and purchasing power, he added.

decreasing prices

The region, which has six million inhabitants, has been offering decreasing prices to those under 26 for the last two years, which can even be free, as well as discounts for those over 60. And, from Tarbes to Nîmes via Toulouse, Narbonne and Montpellier, tickets cost one euro each way every first weekend of the month.

To access “+=Flex”, travelers, regular or occasional, will no longer have to book their tickets, but will first need to download the free FAIRTIQ app on their smartphone.

Then all you have to do is go to a station and run the app, which will locate them and automatically create the ticket. Then you will recognize the drop station.

Boat

According to the principle “the more I travel, the less I pay”, the rates will decrease according to the number of trips made in a month: from -20% of the second trip to -90% of the 28th trip, with a maximum cost of 90 euros per month, half of which can be paid by the employer.

From the second month, frequent travelers will also contribute to a “cagnotte” to be used during the year.

The price can be calculated using the “Simu’Flex” simulator, available in the app, on the trainlio.sncf.com and lio-occitanie.fr websites and from SNCF agents.

Although cheaper and more flexible than traditional subscriptions, the new system should increase revenue for the region and for SNCF thanks to increased attendance, according to Philippe Bru and Jean-Luc Gibelin.
