LIVE – Medef Presidency: follow the decisive debate between Patrick Martin and Dominique Carlac’h on BFM Business

Ten days before the election of the next Medef president, the two candidates for the succession of Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux meet this Monday at BFM Business to discuss and present their respective programs.

Dominique Carlac’h wants a Medef who “speaks loud” and who “never lets himself be intimidated”

Dominique Carlac’h recalled her “commitment to serving companies” throughout her career. He highlighted his “ability to build” and said he had a conviction: that companies are the “economic, social, environmental and human solution.”

The employers’ candidate for the presidency said she wanted to form a “Medef of solutions, which affirms the central place of companies and entrepreneurs” in the face of the transformations to come. “The Medef that I will preside over will be energetic, modern. He will speak loud and clear and will never be intimidated,” she concluded.

For Patrick Martin, the Medef is “an essential pivot of social democracy”

“Medef is an important player in the life of our country and I hope it will be even more so in the coming years”, declared Patrick Martin opening the debate with Dominique Carlac’h.

“We are an essential pivot of social democracy that France needs more than ever,” added the current vice president of the employers’ association, presenting himself as a “constructor” who “multipled by 21” the business figure of his family business and “by 12” his workforce .

Dominique Carlac’h and Patrick Martin in the field to convince

In an attempt to win over MEDEF’s 1,123 voters, the two candidates still vying for the presidency are surveying the field. At the beginning of June, Dominique Carlac’h was in Mantes-la-Jolie to speak about entrepreneurship among young people.

“You bring together my two passions: the industry and music.” In the halls of the factory of the world leader in clarinet, Dominique Carlac’h is full of praise for the excellence of the “French” industry. A pretext to express himself about one of the great priorities of his program: the difficulties of hiring.

For his part, Patrick Martin went to Loiret last week: “We often tell ourselves that it’s the end of the world, that people don’t give a damn anymore, that there are no jobs anymore. Actually, that’s not true,” Patrick Martin said in particular to two young men who have just won a robotics competition after being trained for industrial jobs. A good example for the candidate for the MEDEF presidency, who advocates a massive effort in training.

The French have a good corporate image

What image do the French have of companies? This is a question that will inevitably interest Patrick Martin and Dominique Carlac’h, the two candidates for the Medef presidency who are debating this Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at BFM Business, 10 days before the elections. So you will be happy to know that 74% of the French have a “good image” of their company, according to a survey by Elabe for BFM Business.

An image that has also improved in recent months after a complicated 2022 linked to the energy crisis and the decline in purchasing power. But the French prefer small companies to large ones: 78% have a good image of VSE/SMEs compared to 53% of large companies.

How will the election of the future head of Medef take place?

The election of the Medef is done through “big voters”. A total of 1,123 voters will vote on July 6. Among them, 673 come from professional federations and 449 from territorial Medefs.

The number of voters in each federation and in each territorial organization depends on their number of affiliates and therefore the amount of their contribution. Figures kept secret by the other, but which BFM Business has obtained.
