United States: inflation slows sharply again in June, down to 3% in one year

Although at its lowest level since March 2021, the gauge remains above the US Central Bank’s 2% target.

New brake on the rise in prices on the other side of the Atlantic. Inflation slowed sharply again in June in the United States, to 3% annually from 4% the previous month. Thus, it reached its lowest level since March 2021, but still above the 2% target of the US Central Bank (Fed), according to the CPI index published this Wednesday by the Labor Department.

In just one month, the rise in consumer prices was 0.2% compared to 0.1% in May. Inflation one year ahead is in line with expectations but one month ahead the pace is lower than anticipated by analysts, who expected a 0.3% price rise, according to the consensus published by briefing.com.
