Holidays: the French plan a budget of 682 euros per person on average for this summer

Inflation has consequences on the vacation budget of most French people who intend to leave this summer, indicates an Elabe poll for BFMTV made public on Thursday. According to this survey, 64% of those surveyed who intend to go on vacation this summer affirm that inflation has an impact on the place, the duration, the planned activities or the type of accommodation chosen for their stay.

Vacationers plan on average a budget of 1,656 euros for their home, or 682 euros per person.

A budget that varies greatly depending on the economic situation of the household: those who can save at the end of the month plan an envelope of €2,430 on average, compared to €1,225 for those who have to limit themselves to making ends meet.

“Huge social disparities”

This year, almost six in ten French people (58%) intend to go on vacation this summer, according to the survey. “This figure hides enormous social disparities based on the economic situation of individuals,” says the Elabe Institute.

In fact, 67% of those surveyed who can save at the end of the month intend to go on vacation, compared to only 39% of the most precarious who are forced to restrict themselves or even dip into their reserves or borrow to make ends meet. .its end of the month.

For example, 82% of executives will leave this year, compared to 51% of workers.

An overwhelming majority (77%) of holidaymakers will spend at least part of the summer in France, although 24% of respondents say they will go to Europe and 8% outside the Old Continent.

To reach their vacation spots, French respondents plan to use their personal vehicle (cited by 70% of respondents), plane (21%), train (15%). Only 4% of vacationers will travel by carpool.

Sample of 1002 people representative of mainland French residents aged 18 and over.
